COVID-19 Response

Catholic Community Services of Utah remains a pillar of support for our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our doors remain open, providing essential services to the most vulnerable in our community who depend on CCS during these difficult times.

CCS is working diligently to make sure that we are able to assist thousands of people, while at the same time keeping our staff and clients safe. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are keeping our operational guidelines consistent with CDC and WHO recommendations and adhering to State, County and City directives including allowing non-essential staff to work from home.

The Bishop Weigand Homeless Resource Center continues to operate as a day shelter for our homeless friends. The St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall continues to feed people by delivering curbside sack lunches to those struggling with hunger; we are also delivering meals to all three Shelter the Homeless Resource Centers in town. The Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank continues to provide food assistance to thousands of families in northern Utah, including many whose jobs have recently been lost. Our Migration and Refugees Services programs continue to provide case management to refugee families resettled by CCS, with a special emphasis on helping those who have lost their employment. Immigration assistance remains available via teleconference.

It is only with the support of our donors, government partners and many others, that CCS is able to provide help and create hope during one of the most challenging times in our nation’s history. Like many other businesses, our revenues have decreased recently, making your support more vital than ever. Despite these challenges, I know that our state and country have a resiliency and determination to overcome any obstacle. CCS is committed to being an enduring source of help during troubled times. We continue to pray for the safety of our medical professionals, grocery store workers, truck drivers and countless others who continue serve on the frontlines of this battle.
